Help at home, right here in Prescott
I gathered the local people who fix, clean, drive, care and help, so you can stay in the home you love. Free, plain-spoken, and checked by hand.
Hello, and welcome
I made this guide for everyone in the Quad Cities who wants to keep living at home, and for the sons and daughters helping them do it.
Finding someone trustworthy to fix a leak or drive you to an appointment shouldn't take a whole afternoon of phone calls. So I've put local help in one place, in plain words, with the things that matter most: where each business works, whether it's licensed when the law requires it, and how to reach them.
No one pays me to be listed, and I never make up reviews. Everything I say about a business comes from its own website, and I link to it so you can see for yourself.
Warmly, Hazel
A few things I'd tell a friend
- For a job of $1,000 or more, ask for the contractor's license number and look it up.
- Get the price in writing before work starts.
- If a stranger calls about your computer, just hang up.

Check a contractor's license
Before anyone starts work on your home, it takes two minutes to see whether their Arizona license is current. It's free, and I'll walk you through it.

Not sure who to call? The Area Agency on Aging for northern Arizona gives free help finding services at 877-521-3500 (weekdays). If you're worried someone is being abused or taken advantage of, Arizona Adult Protective Services answers 24 hours a day at 1-877-767-2385. I keep more numbers in the hiring guide.
A little gift for your fridge
I made a one-page "Who to Call" sheet: the public help numbers for the Quad Cities, a short before-you-hire checklist, and space to write in your own trusted plumber, handyman and helpers.
You can download it right away. Now and then I'll send a short email with local home-help tips, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
